Auguy Slowik has been called up to the England Sevens squad ahead of the Safaricom Sevens in Kenya in September.

“Auguy has shown in the past at schoolboy level that he has all the attributes to be successful"

The Academy winger – who signed professional terms in the summer after coming through SGS Filton College – will join a squad captained by former Bristol winger Mat Turner.

“It is a fantastic opportunity for Auguy and he has done extremely well to be selected,” said Academy Manager Mike Hall. “Sevens is an excellent arena for young players to showcase their talent.

“Auguy has shown in the past at schoolboy level that he has all the attributes to be successful at that form on the game: speed, the ability to beat players one on one and an awareness of space and how to exploit it.

“This will be a big step up for him in terms of the opposition that he will play against and the physicality on show, but we are looking forward to seeing how he copes with it.

“Not only will it offer him an excellent opportunity in his rugby development, it also compliments our Academy philosophy of developing well rounded individuals off the field.

“Being in a new environment and building relationships with different players and coaches will all help accelerate his personal development, as well as having an opportunity to travel to a fantastic country such as Kenya.”
