The Academy lock is included in Mike Ruddock's 23-man squad, and could make his international debut if he features at Dubarry Park.

Joyce told bristolrugby.co.uk: "I'm extremely proud to be representing Ireland and, if I get an opportunity, I'm looking forward to testing myself and giving my best for the shirt.

"It's a great experience to be part of the Ireland U20s camp and it's an honour to be involved in the tournament opener."

Ruddock commented: "We narrowly lost to Scotland last year so we are aware of the challenge ahead of us.

"This group have gathered a lot of valuable game-time with their clubs and provinces, so the group have high hopes of delivering a strong performance on Friday."

Congratulations to Joe on this excellent achievement – stay tuned on the official website for updates on Joe’s progress throughout the RBS Six Nations.
