Lock makes international debut

Joe Joyce was a second half replacement as Ireland U20s powered past Scotland to win 34-7 at a rain-soaked Dubarry Park.

The Academy lock entered the fray at 58 minutes, helping his side to an RBS Six Nations victory on his international debut.

Ireland scored four tries – including a brace from Jack O’Donoghue – to secure the win.

Joyce said: “We’re delighted with the win because the conditions didn’t make it easy. We dug in and it gives everybody confidence for the rest of the campaign.

“I was pleased to get on in the second half – it’s a massive honour to represent Ireland and a proud moment to make my debut.”
