Gloucestershire U20 13-11 Devon U20

A Gloucestershire U20s side featuring EPDG Gold members featuring Ricky Cano and Harry Hone battled to a narrow 13-11 victory over Devon U20s at Lydney on Sunday, keeping their National U20s Championship hopes alive.

Prop Cano touched down in the first half before Jack Hayes’ try midway through the second period sealed the hard-fought win for the hosts.

Devon U20s took an early lead courtesy of Dom Loomes’ fifth minute try, and Gloucestershire’s problems worsened when flanker Louis Spencer was sin-binned.

But a Jack O’Connell penalty and Ricky Cano’s close-range effort levelled the scores at the half-time break. Hartpury winger Jack Hayes accelerated between two defenders to score in the corner during a tight second period to give the home side the lead.

Bristol and Avonmouth lock Harry Hone was sin-binned in stoppage time as Devon U20s surged forward in numbers, but Gloucestershire U20s held on for a deserved victory.
