EPDG Trio To Represent England U18s

Callum Braley, Nick Carpenter and Steve Uren called up for Sunday's game

Three members of Bristol’s EPDG Gold group have been named in the England U18s side to take on Scotland U18s in Hawick on Sunday (2pm KO).

Flanker Steve Uren (Filton College), scrum half Callum Braley (Hartpury College) and centre Nick Carpenter (Filton College) have all been included in Head Coach John Fletcher’s 22-man squad.

Scotland were 26-21 victors when the teams met last March and England will be hoping to reverse that result before heading to Madrid for the FIRA/AER tournament at the end of the month.

Callum Braley scored a first half try as England opened their season with a narrow 18-16 win over France in February.

“Congratulations to the boys,” said Academy Manager Mike Hall. “They have worked incredibly hard to earn international recognition and are relishing the challenge of playing Scotland on Sunday.”

John Fletcher added: “We were pleased with the result against France and we played some good rugby at times. However we feel that the performance was about a 7 out of 10.

“Our aim is to improve on the performance and get it as close to a 10 as we can. Scotland will be passionate, proud and physical and so will we, so it should be a really good game.”

Meanwhile, Hartpury College and EPDG member Ellis Genge will represent England U17s at Melrose on Sunday (2pm KO).

Bristol Rugby would like to wish all our players involved in international action the best of luck this weekend.
