Prop joins up with Ireland U20s squad ahead of Italy fixture

Jake Caulfield says he is delighted to be joining up with the Ireland U20s squad ahead of the RBS Six Nations clash with Italy at Dubarry Park on Friday (7.05pm KO).

The Academy prop, who has represented England at U16 level, qualifies for Ireland through his grandmother.

Mike Ruddock’s side have made a fine start to their Six Nations campaign, beating Wales 11-6, before grinding out an impressive 13-12 victory away in France.

“I’m really pleased to be involved,” said the 19 year-old. “It’s a proud achievement for me and I can’t wait to meet up with the rest of the squad.

“Ireland are a very strong side, as their results so far in the competition have shown.

“I was told at the end of last week that I had been called up, so there was a lot of excitement. I’ll need to work hard incredibly hard but I’m really looking forward to it.”

Flanker Mitch Eadie retains his place in the Scotland U20s squad and heads to Edinburgh in preparation for the visit of France this weekend.
