England U20s went down to a narrow 21-15 defeat against France U20s in the opening RBS Six Nations clash.

Led for the first time by Callum Braley, England scored twice, courtesy of Northampton Saints centre Tom Stephenson and Saracens lock Maro Itoje scored for England, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the French in a fiery encounter.

Braley said: “I think frustration probably best sums up the mood in the changing room. We know that we can play better but the conditions were tough and we gave it our best shot.

“On a personal level it was a massive honour to lead the guys out for the first time and so long as we learn from tonight’s loss then we can take some positives.”
