Bristol U18s Go Down At Allianz Park

Saracens U18s 57-12 Bristol U18s

Bristol Academy U18s suffered their fourth straight RFU Academy Under-18s Southern Pool defeat of the season, going down by eight tries to two against a strong Saracens outfit at Allianz Park.

Bristol trailed 32-0 at the interval, but second-half tries by centre Lucas Slowik and No 8 Brad Kislingbury, plus a conversion from fly-half Julian Mogg, sparked a mini revival, and brought some respectability to the scoreline.

Bristol started the better of the two sides, and looked the more likely to get the early breakthrough.

But Sarries' aggressive defence forced multiple handling errors, and by the end of the contest, Bristol had gifted their hosts four tries from interceptions.

The visitors had their fair share of possession, but were unable to add the finishing touches to their impressive build-up play. But unlike their hosts, their defence was found wanting, and they fell off too many one-on-one tackles and paid a heavy price.

Academy Manager Mike Hall told bristolrugby.co.uk: "Saracens are a good side, and overall deserved to win. But there's no-way we deserved to go down by such a large margin.

"Four of their tries came from interceptions, and their kicker only missed one kick all day, which boosted their tally. We did some good things early on, but we didn't get the early score that would have given us the confidence to push on."
