Bristol U18s Go Down To Bath Defeat
Bristol U18s 19-31 Bath U18s
Bristol U18s fell to a 19-31 defeat at the hands of Bath U18s at the WISE Campus on Friday.
“If we are to go the next level, we need to improve our execution"
The visitors raced into a 24-0 lead during the first period, as Ed Coulsen, Will Homer and Ollie Atkins (2) went over in quick succession.
But – in an entertaining affair - Bristol hit back after the interval, courtesy of scores from Brad Kislingbury and replacements Henry Harper and James Floyd. SGS Filton fly half Julian Mogg added two conversions.
Bath confirmed victory with a score from Dan Frost, while Rory Jennings struck the conversion – his third of the game.
Bristol U18s Coach Keith Leaker told bristolrugby.co.uk: “After a disappointing display at Exeter last week, we all hoped and prepared for a much more positive performance against Bath.
For the most part, the squad delivered. Our set piece was good, in attack we created lots of scoring opportunities and our defence improved later in the game.
“If we are to go the next level, we need to improve our execution and turn more of our possession into scores.
After struggling with this aspect of our play in the first half, we were really pleased to see an improvement after the break.
“Our gain line management improved, allowing us to build play and convert the resulting territory into points, out scoring Bath three tries to one.
“We need to work hard to make sure in future both attack and defence function to this level from the first whistle.”
