Will Thomas Selected For Wales Sevens Squad
EPDG Gold member called up for HSBC Hong Kong Sevens
Bristol Rugby EPDG Gold Member Will Thomas has been called up for the Wales squad ahead of the HSBC Hong Kong Sevens at the end of the month.
The Filton College fly-half, who made two appearances for Bristol in the B&I Cup this season, is named in the 12-man squad for the prestigious tournament.
Wales are placed in Pool B alongside New Zealand, South Africa and the United States, kicking off against the Springboks on Friday 23rd March.
The Welsh won the Plate in Hong Kong in 2006 and 2007, and the Bowl in 2010.
“It hasn’t really sunk in yet,” said Thomas. “I’m so proud to have been selected and I’m really looking forward to heading to Hong Kong with the squad.
“I attended a training camp after being recommended and I was fortunate enough to make the cut.
“We’re in a really tough group with the likes of New Zealand and South Africa so it will be an incredible experience testing myself against some of the World’s best Sevens players.”
Academy Manager Mike Hall added: “Congratulations to Will. It’s a remarkable achievement to be selected for the Wales senior Sevens squad.
“He has performed well in the B&I Cup for the Club this season and has been a key performer for Filton too.
“Everybody at Bristol Rugby Club wishes Will the best of luck in Hong Kong.”
