Steve Uren, Nick Carpenter and Callum Braley feature in U18s victory

Bristol’s EPDG Gold Group players Callum Braley, Steve Uren and Nick Carpenter represented England Under 18s in a convincing victory over London Academies at Harrow School on Friday.

The fixture, arranged by coaches John Fletcher and Pete Walton, was used as a tool to assess players ahead of final squad selection for the international fixtures scheduled for 2012.

Bristol Academy Manager Mike Hall attended the match to watch his charges and commented: "All three of our players acquitted themselves extremely well during their time on the pitch. Steve was his usual all-action self in the back row, spoiling opposition ball and being a general nuisance at the breakdown.

“Nick showed some lovely touches in midfield and created space for the outside backs to exploit and Callum's distribution and game management at scrum-half was very slick.

“It is a very talented squad that John and Pete have assembled so competition for places in the final 25 man squad will be fierce, but if the players keep performing well in the AASE league, Nick and Steve for Filton College and Callum for Hartpury, they have a great chance at making the final cut."
