Bristol Confirm Pre-Season Fixtures

Bristol Rugby will play Biarritz, Clifton and Bath during pre-season

23rd May 2011 published by Tom Tainton

Bristol Rugby will play a trio of pre-season fixtures in the build-up to the 2011/12 Championship campaign.

Head Coach Liam Middleton will mark his first game in charge when Bristol travel to South-West France to meet Biarritz in a mouthwatering clash at Parc des Sports Aguilera on Friday 12 August (KO TBC).

Last August Bristol went down narrowly to French D2 side Dax, losing 38-21 in a frenetic pre-season friendly. This time Middleton’s squad, featuring a number of new players and coaching staff, take on the might of the five-time French champions.

In their traditional curtain raiser to the regular season, Bristol face Clifton at the Club’s training base on Sunday 21 August (KO TBC).

Finally on Friday 26 August Bristol travel to the Recreation Ground to play local rivals Bath (KO TBC), before kicking off their RFU Championship season on the weekend of September 3.

Chief Executive Steve Gorvett commented: “We’re very pleased with the pre-season arrangements against some quality opposition. Playing Biarritz will be fantastic and should be a stern test for the players. It’s the best possible way to prepare for an exciting season.”

The pre-season fixtures are:

Friday 12 August: Parc des Sports Aguilera – Biarritz v Bristol Rugby (KO TBC)
Sunday 20 August:
Clifton Rugby Club – Clifton v Bristol Rugby (KO TBC)
Friday 26 August:
Recreation Ground – Bath v Bristol Rugby (KO TBC)
