28th April 2011 published by Tom Tainton

Bristol Academy recorded a convincing 57-0 victory over touring side The Dogs at Clifton Rugby Club on Wednesday evening.

A strong Bristol side, led by Academy Coach Matt Salter, scored a host of tries as the visitors were swept aside in front of a large crowd. The fixture was The Dogs’ fifth and final game during their tour of the UK and they return to Canada today.

Bristol’s side featured a number of EPDG players including several U16s. Mitch Eadie and England U16 hooker Ryan Roach shone in the pack, while Filton’s JB Bruzulier and winger Adam Lambert also performed well.

Salter praised his players afterwards, saying: “We selected a strong side tonight and there were a lot of guys who have played a high standard of rugby. All credit to The Dogs, they were a determined outfit and they’ll only get better by playing experienced, quality players. It was a real pleasure having them here at Clifton."

There were several standout performances from our guys, we set a benchmark and it was a good opportunity for some of those on the fringes to prove themselves and wear the Bristol jersey. I couldn’t have asked for anymore of them – it was a satisfying performance.”
