This was the Club's best ever season with a thousand points being scored for the first time and the team being crowned unofficial English and English-Welsh champions.

Stars of this era included Bill Redwood, England hookers John Thorne and John Pullin, David Rollitt, David Watt, Peter Knight, Ken Plummer and Alan Pearn. With odd blemishes the seventies went well for Bristol particularly under David Tyler and Mike Fry.
