Bristol's Mat Turner has been given a late call-up to start in the Southern Kings squad that will face the British & Irish Lions in Port Elizabeth next Tuesday.
His selection comes after Ryno Benjamin of the South Africa Sevens was ruled out with a hamstring injury.

After joining Bristol Rugby at the start of the 2008/9 season, Mat has made six appearance for the club and was included in the 2009/10 first team squad announced last week.

Previous to joining the West Country club, Mat featured in the SA Under 20's squad for the 2008 IRB U20 World Cup, and was also a regular member of the UCT team (University of Cape Town) which played in the final of the Varsity Cup competition.

Coined a "try scoring machine" after working his way up through the ranks in Western Province Rugby, Mat was selected in the England Sevens squad to face Georgia last December. His star quality was confirmed when he scored twice on his debut for Bristol against Northampton back in October.

After Tuesday's clash against the Lions, Mat will return to Bristol ready to join the rest of squad for pre-season training.
