The Junior World Championship kicked off in Wales on Friday evening, however the participation of the Bristol players was frustratingly limited.
England were in action at Rodney Parade against Newport and were sensational for 40 minutes as they ran in six tries on their way to a 41-0 half time lead. However, they lost their way somewhat in the second period and were unable to add to their score whilst Fiji finished strongly and scored three tries of their own in the final quarter.

Bristol's Luke Eves, who started every game in England's U20 Grand Slam campaign earlier this year, was an interested spectator from the stands and will hoping to get his opportunity in the next fixture.

Meanwhile, Bristol Rugby hooker Ryan Prosser was named amongst the replacements as host nation Wales kicked off their campaign against Italy at the Liberty Stadium in Swansea.

In contrast to England, Wales got off to a sluggish start and were still only leading the Azzuri 12-10 on 53 minutes. However, a good final quarter saw them ease to a 29-10 victory although Prosser only made it off the bench for the final few minutes.

Next up for England are Canada which kicks off at 5pm on Tuesday June 10th at Rodney Parade with Wales taking on Japan at the Liberty Stadium at 7pm.
