Bristol Rugby Head Coach Richard Hill admitted after the Worcester game that it was a shame to sign off at the Mem with a defeat but that his team hadn't been clinical enough and taken their chances.
"That was disappointing for us. We were hoping to finish on a high and a good note here. It looked as though the old fairytale ending might have happened with the try or the Jason Strange drop goal."

"It would have been perfect for Jason to sign off with a drop goal but Craig Gillies with his 6ft 11" frame (!) got in the way so it wasn't to be."

"It was disappointing but that's life. Little fairytales come along every now and then but it wasn't to be today."

Q. Were you disappointed that you created so many chances but didn't take them?

"I was, yes. The first half was poor really all round. The first 40 minutes wasn't a real Bristol performance. We were disappointed with that, with the intensity and everything else."

"But in the second half at least we showed a lot of passion and a lot more ambition and made some lovely line breaks. As you say, we created numerous chances to finish them off but you have to give Worcester credit for scrambling back and making those tackles and keeping us out close to the line."

"But it is disappointing that we didn't have that cutting edge to cross the line in the second half with so many chances. Benjamin certainly saved them a couple of times with raw pace."

"I'm disappointed. Sick as a parrot and all that."

Q. Has the story about the move been a bit of a distraction?

"Not really. The training has gone well this week. We were pretty pumped up to do well. So, I don't think it's been a distraction really."

"Towards the end there was a lot of effort going in to try and pinch that game but we didn't quite have the cutting edge to do it."

Q. Was Shaun Perry substituted because of injury?

"He's actually been very ill and it was touch and go this morning whether he'd be able to play. He's had gastroenteritis."

"He almost didn't play. Haydn Thomas was on standby last night. He gave it a go but he was totally drained by half time."

"He managed to do our team run on Thursday but wasn't especially well. But he did the session because he's the captain and wanted to."

Q. Will you still be here when the club returns?

"I hope so! I've still got a couple of years left. What we'll do now is draw a line under the first five years. The first five have been successful for Bristol. The people who took it on five years ago have taken it on from nothing. There was just one person left in the entire club."

"Then we managed ninth in Division One, were Division One Champions, 11th in the Guinness Premiership, third last year which is Bristol's highest finish and qualified for the Heineken Cup."

"So, to go from two relegation and twice being bust to qualifying for the Heineken Cup in the space of five years is a huge achievement for everyone."

"That's the first five years. That was about getting a rugby club back. We had Bristol as a name but there was nothing here in 2003 apart from a stadium and it's been built back up in five years to a point where I think we can say that the rugby club is back now."

"The next five years will be, having re-established the club, trying to get up to the top of English rugby. That's the challenge, with a little adventure in South Wales for the next two before returning to an exciting new stadium."

Q. Is all your recruitment done?

"Yes. We've signed six, four of which are from Division One. We're having to be sensible with our budgets as we probably won't get the crowds over there that we do here."

"We'll continue to look hard at Division One and we've picked up a good full back in Vunga Lilo who has been playing down at the Pirates and Junior Fatialofa is just about ready for the Premiership. So, they'll be two excellent signings and we have two more as well."

"If they do as well as the Arscotts, Shaun Perry, Dan Ward-Smith, Ed Barnes, Alfie To'oala and co then we'll be very happy."

Q. What would you say about your venerable front row?

"Well, it's the last time they'll be together. They used to be the 101 club but it keeps rising! They've done a terrific job and it's a shame to see Hilts go as I think he still has mileage in him. I don't think he'll stop playing. He'll play somewhere."

"But it's time for the youngsters to come through. We've got Alex Clarke, Mark Irish and Ray Hogan coming through. But, he's been a terrific servant and a great Bristolian and he'll get a great send off from the supporters tonight."
